James O. Pawelski, Ph.D., is Professor of Practice and Director of Education in the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania, where he has also been appointed Adjunct Professor of Religious Studies. Having won a Fulbright Scholarship and earned a doctorate in philosophy, he is the Founding Director of the Humanities and Human Flourishing Project, which has been designated a National Endowment for the Arts Research Lab. He has published dozens of academic articles and five books, including The Oxford Handbook of the Positive Humanities, and is the editor of the Humanities and Human Flourishing book series with Oxford University Press. He is an award-winning teacher and the Founding Director of Penn’s Master of Applied Positive Psychology Program. Additionally, he is Founding Executive Director Emeritus and a current Member of the Board of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA), Founding President of the new Positive Arts & Culture Division of IPPA, a Member of the Board of the International Positive Education Network, and a past president of the William James Society.
